Natural ways to improve cholesterol

Here are some easy, natural ways to improve your cholesterol:

  • Reduce sugars and ultra-processed foods and other flour-based foods

  • Reduce red meat and fried foods

  • Increase tree nut consumption (walnuts, cashews, almonds, macadamias, etc)

  • Increase healthy vegetable intake, with some fruit as well

  • Increase healthy fats (olive oil, avocados, olives, SMASH fish - salmon, mackerel, anchovies, sardines, herring)

  • Ensure you are getting adequate cardiovascular exercise (at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise per week)

  • Add garlic to food (when it will taste good!)

  • Consider adding a psyllium fiber supplement, starting with at least 2-3g daily of added fiber and increasing as tolerated
